52nd Programme:
On December 11, 2011, Dr. Naveen Krishnan
conducted a Reptile Awareness Program at the Ramchandra Mission Ashram in
Thuraiyur. Mr. Mohan, the Ashram in-charge, presided over the event. Dr. Naveen
Krishnan explained to the public the importance of snakes in the environment,
why they should not be killed, how the food chain is affected by their absence,
and how killing snakes can lead to an increase in the rodent population, which
harms agriculture.
